A typographic map of my room

I noticed about myself that my mood really influences how and what I use in my room when I'm inside it, and when I am outside I long to different things in my room in different moods.

When cleaning up my mac a few months ago I used an app in which data is visualised in a treemap, which intrigued me through its ordening and visuals.
This kind of mapping seemed really interesting to me to use in this project, since a more simplified version of this (because I don't have nearly as much data) could give a good overview of what things in my room are more important to me (mentally or physically) by differing in size.

My first concept was to show the contrast between my room subjectively and objectively. By using a treemap like this I could show the data (subjective) in a mapping. It can be argued if mappings are totally objective — it definitely isn't in this case — but I still thought it was interesting to make a mapping of this subjective 'data'.

This is why the mapping doesn't exist out of things I could measure with a certain scale, instead it just shows a visual distinction through hierarchy, size and color.

The audio was recorded from my window (it was a windy day)
For a medium I thought of making this for print, or making it an interactive web-based interface. I decided to go with making it a web-based interface, since more would be possible in terms of interaction.

I ended up making both an interactive platform and two posters from it.
I did really like the vibe of the first sketch, I took some inspiration from Teenage Engineerings sythesizers in terms of simplicity. It did bother me that the menu and the treemap were too secluded from eachother, it would be more interesting for me to combine the menu and the mapping more.

The colors are based on my associations with the certain moods.
