font video
font video of myriad
_
this video is meant to give a brief history of myriad as a typeface designed in the early 90's that was meant to be used on computer screens.

It was designed for Adobe as a standard font that came with adobe software, and is most known for being Apple's official font until 2017.

after a quick search I found some interesting topics to focus on for the video.

I quickly got the idea of showing the designers desktop through the design process and then following myriad through being implemented by Adobe and used by Apple.

so the video starts with Frutiger being re-designed into myriad, then being send to adobe systems by the designers, then being implemented in adobe's creative software and that would take up 30 sec.

the last half a minute would be a montage of apple commercials showing how myriad was used throughout the years.

and I thought it would be nice to separate these two parts by switching music and changing the pace in that way. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to do this in the end.

typographic mapping

trying to come up with an idea
I started sketching and describing my room to find a point to focus on.
At some point I decided I wanted to do something with my books as I started recalling my travels when I looked at them.

Last year I traveled a lot and I started collecting books as souvenirs from places where I've been. Translating this into a typographic mapping proved difficult tho.
First, I mapped out all the places I got my books from.

Then, I was looking for a way to translate that into typography and I decided to do that by re-arranging my bookshelf to match their geographic location.

Then I wrote on every book cover the name of the shop I got it from, and eventually, I copied the books design with the shop name.
